Kickhams Creggan 5-15
Ballymena 3-06

Creggan Senior ladies got back to winning ways after their defeat to Moneyglass last week with a fairly comprehensive victory over Ballymena in the end.

Creggan started off the scoring in this match with the first two scores, points from midfielder Niamh Kelly and half-forward Shannon Graham. Ballymena struck immediately back though when they put the ball in the Creggan net after just 5 minutes of play to take an early lead. Niamh Kelly restored parity for the Green and Gold with her second point, which was replied to with another Ballymena point.

The Creggan girls took the game by the scruff of the neck at this stage when Anne McKee slotted to the net and a further 5 points were added to the scoreboard unanswered by the home team. Roisin O'Boyle claimed three of these with Niamh Kelly and Shannon Graham again grabbing the other two.

Creggan were cruising at this stage but that was all to change when Ballymena were allowed right back in to the match when they responded with a goal and 3 points to leave the bare minimum between the sides at half time. Kickhams Creggan 1-08, Ballymena 2-04.

Stern words from the management team at half time seemed to buck the girls up as they totally dominated the second period of play. Shannon Graham knocked over a pair of points and a Sarah Redmond goal was sandwiched in between within the first 3 minutes of the re-start. Ballymena briefly responded with a point of their own but another goal, this time from Eimer Kelly, and a further hat-trick of points from Miss Graham knocked the fight out of the Slemish Park ladies.

Ballymena managed to get up the field and raise a white flag momentarily but Ruby Marie Rice showed no mercy as she slammed to the net to effectively end the match as a contest. Eimer Kelly and Sarah Maguire added another two points to the Creggan tally with Anita McAuley also finding the net.

In the final minute of the match Ballymena were awarded a penalty which they duly dispatched but by that stage the league points were safely in the bag for the home team.

There were a lot of great performances from the Creggan girls and it was good to see them get their shooting boots back on them after the Moneglass wide-fest the week before.
