Volunteers URGENTLY needed to spread the digital switchover message!

Friday, June 29, 2012
TV is switching to digital all over the UK and in a few months the traditional TV signal will be switched off in Northern Ireland. Rural Community Network is urgently looking for people from across Northern Ireland who can help to spread the word so that no one will lose their TV channels in their local areas.

For older and disabled viewers who may find making the switch difficult, the Switchover Help Scheme is at hand to provide practical help. RCN needs volunteers from towns, villages and rural areas to help raise awareness of the Help Scheme in their communities so that everyone knows what help is available.

Volunteer training is taking place in the following venues:
Wed 4th July, Ballybot House, Newry, 9.30am to 2pm including lunch.
Thurs 5th July, The Greenvale Hotel, Cookstown, 9.30am to 2pm including lunch.
Fri 6th July, The Old School House, Cushendall, 9.30am to 2pm including lunch.
Thurs 2nd August, Ballymote Centre, Downpatrick, 5pm to 9.30pm (tbc) inc dinner.
More dates will follow in August in other areas.

The training will provide volunteers all the information they need to do the task. No previous experience is required. We need volunteers from all walks of life and ages to make sure that we don’t leave anyone out. Volunteers don’t need to be technically minded, just friendly, willing and able to talk to people where they live.  Volunteer travel expenses will be reimbursed.
