SW U14 Hurling Feile na nGael semi-final
Monday, April 16, 2012
Kickhams, Creggan 2-08 v 1-02 All Saints, Ballymena
The U14 hurlers of Kickhams and All Saints served up a fantastic display of Feile na nGael hurling at a sun drenched Creggan on Sunday.
Both teams were slow to settle and by the end of the first quarter only two points separated the two teams.
Kickhams were winning the midfield battle but the All Saints defence was holding firm and proving difficult to break down.
However, the game was effectively killed off just before half time when Kealan McCann scored a brace of goals.
Three points from the inspirational centre half back and team captain Matthew Rodgers, followed up by points from: Liam Quinn (0-02), Ciaran Rice (0-01), Kevin Small (0-01) and Dermot Carey (0-01), put the game beyond the reach of an extremely gallant All Saints side. However, All Saints did rally and finish the stronger outscoring the Creggan lads in the final quarter of the game notching up 1-02 without reply.
The Kickhams team was:
1. Oisin McAteer
2. Liam McCann
3. Kevin Small
4. Jamie McCann
5. Tiarnan McAteer
6. Matthew Rodgers
7. Sean Kelly
