The home side were quicker off the mark with a point after two minutes from Odhran McLarnon which was quickly followed by another two minutes later. St. Galls replied with a point of their own on six minutes to get themselves on the score board. Play ebbeded and flowed between both defences and attacks but it was Creggan who made the better of their opportunites when they came about to record a further 2 points to lead 0-04 to 0-01 after 18 minutes of play.
A blow was to follow soon though, when the blues hit a high, long ball in to the full forward who plamed it down to an on rushing team mate who duly slotted it past the out rushing Leon Bonnes. This was followed up with another point to put the visitors right back in the game and leading by a point. Creggan didn't let their heads drop though and they responded with a point of their own to tie the game up. On the stroke of half time, St. Galls got the final score by popping over another point to leave the smallest of margins between the sides at the turnaround. HT Kickhams Creggan 0-05, St. Galls 1-03.
The next seven points were shared in a tit-for-tat fashion with every score for the men in green and yellow being matched by the visitors who by the 50th minute still clung on to that minor score advantage. This pattern in fact continued for the rest of the game as St. Galls fired over a further three points in response to Creggans two. Creggan visibly began to tire in the final stages as St. Galls retained possession and conserved energy by moving the ball over and across their half back line. The sides traded a final point apiece before proceedings were brought to an end with the visitors claiming the victory by 4 points.
