North Antrim U12 Division 3 Indoor Hurling Winners
Monday, January 31, 2011
Last Saturday in front of a large
crowd at the Seven Towers Leisure
Centre in Ballymena, Creggan’s ‘young guns’ won the North Antrim U12
Division 3 Indoor Hurling Final.
After qualifying undefeated for
the Division 3 final the previous week
in Swatragh with 4 wins and 1 draw, Creggan went in to the final as
favourites. There, they were up against a very tough Dungannon side who
they
had previously beaten 5 goals to nil. However, as expected, Dungannon
were a
much different team in the final. After conceding an early goal to a
penalty, Creggan showed their
‘true grit’ and determination by scoring two hard earned goals, to
win 2 goals to 1, with Kealan McCann scoring both.
It was however a superb overall
team performance and special mention
must go to goalkeeper Liam Quinn who at 1 nil down, and ‘staring down
the barrel of a gun’ pulled off an amazing reflex save.
Great credit to the whole panel
who performed and behaved superbly over
the previous two qualifying weeks, as well as in the final itself. Good luck to the U10’s, whose
indoor competition commences this
weekend.
The winning U12 panel was:
Eunan McAteer
Liam Quinn
Tiarnan McAteer
Cormac McCann
Liam McCann
Kealan McCann
Dermot Carey
