NAHL U-16 Div. 2
17 August 2009

Kickhams Creggan 5-14
Tir Na nOg 5-06

This was a 13-a-side game played at Creggan on a bright summer's evenng and both teams missed a lot of chances early in the match. Ten minutes had gone before Oran McCann managed to strike over 2 points and Declan McCann found the net for a goal. Tir Na nOg replied with 2-01 of their own and led for the first time. Oran and Ruairi put this right when they knocked over a further three points and it continued score for score as the teams finished at the short whistle all square, Creggan 1-06, Tir Na nOg 2-03.

In to the second half and the lead changed hands at least five times in an entertaining contest as both sides put plenty in to the match...after all there was parish pride at stake here!

With the scores tied at Creggan 3-11 to Tir Na nOg 5-05 with ten minutes remaining on the clock, the home side upped their game and rattled in 2-02 without reply to take an eight point advantage. A further point apiece ended the evenings scoring in a well contested game of hurling.

Oran, Ruairi and Anthony Totten played well in the forward s with the injured Conor getting his just rewards for staying on the pitch. Referee Willie Mitchell let the game flow which resulted in plenty of scores from play and very few frees being awarded.

Kickhams Scorers: Oran McCann (2-08), Ruairi McCann (1-04), Declan McCann (1-02), Conor McCann (1-0)....looks like the McCann's can play hurling eh?!!
