NAHL U-16 Div. 2
29 June 2009

Kickhams 1-06
Shane O'Neills 4-09

Due to school exams and a bye, this was our first U16 game in 7 weeks. Friendlies were arranged, teams couldn't commit, and a tournament postponed due to teams not showing up have all added to the frustrations.

Glenarm opened the scoring with 4 points before oran McCann got his and the teams first point. Two goals and a further point put Glenanrm in the lead at half time 2-05 to Creggan's 0-04. A few frees that had been missed and too many balls dropping in to the keepers hand might have made it a bit closer going in to the break.

Creggan pressurised in the second half resulting in a 45m free, taken by Oran which found it's way in over the keepers head to the net.

Ferghal Shivers cleaned up alot of ball in full back, Ruairi McCann broke out of defence on numerous occassions, whilst the midfield pairing of Conal McLarnon & Murtagh McKeague worked hard throughout.

Anthonh Totten, Kevin Rice and Oran battled away in the half forward line getting plenty of space and possession while in full forward Caolan McAteer played his first U16 game alonside his Feile partner James Carey. With three players missing the 14 lads on show performed well.

Kickhams scorers: Oran McCann (1-04), James Carey (0-01), Ryan Nelson (0-01)

Thanks to Paul O'Neill for the match report.
