In a warm up for the championship clash at the end of July Portglenone have taken a slight advantage after winning this entertaining game by 5 points. Played in perfect conditions Creggan took an early lead through a Leigh Martin free. Portglenone then scored the next 6 cores through Mark Graham, Owen Doherty, McCloskey and 3 Gerard McAleese frees. A Mark Anthony free left the score 0-06 to 0-02 at half time to the away side.
Second half straight from the throw in Niall McKeever raced through the middle to score an excellent point. Another McAleese free put 6 between the teams with 25 minutes to play. Creggan then scored 3 points from the boot of Leigh Martin. Portglenone then broke this Creggan momentum by scoring a penalty, Mark Graham placing into the corner of the net with the aid of the post. Creggan then replied with 2 points from Ciaran McCartney and Mark Anthony before a Leigh Martin goal put just 2 points between the teams with about 7 minutes left on the clock. We had a couple of chances near the end but good Portglenone defending kept their lead in tact. The last 3 minutes of the game Portglenone fininshed really strong and scored 3 points, 2 from McAleese and 1 from Owen Doherty to seal the 5 point victory.
