ACFL Div. 4
5 April 2009

Kickhams Creggan 2-07
St. Pauls 0-11

Creggan continued their winning ways in the Division 4 league with a win against St. Pauls on Sunday. With Division 1 starting on Sunday also, coupled with injuries and suspensions, the squad was thinner than usual but nonetheless everyone performed admirably to cement our place at the top of the league.

The game was even enough for the opening exchanges as points were traded between the teams. Creggan then began to take control and stretched their lead to three points. As the half closed Damian McLarnon put the finishing touches to a flowing move when the found the net to give Creggan a healthy lead at the short whistle.

Half Time: Kickhams Creggan 1-06, St. Pauls 0-03

The second half was disappointing from a Creggan point of view with score taking seriously curtailed. St. Pauls found their form and were kicking points with regularity as they made serious inroads in to Creggans lead. In truth Creggan should have had a couple of goals on top of the one that Benny Devlin scored at the beginning of the second period. It made for a nervous ending but Creggan hung on well after they were reduced to 14 men as Teddy Snr received two yellows.

There is no match next Sunday as it is Easter but Creggan will be more than pleased that they are sitting top of the league and going well.
