U16 Hurling Summary 2008

This was Creggan’s first juvenile hurling team to compete in Division 1 of the North antrim Leagues and there was mixed feelings about it.

The team scored 2-10 in both Ballycastle and Cushendall yet still suffered big losses there. The flipside was they only got beat beat by Loughgiel (by 1 pt), Glenshesk (by 1 pt) and Dunloy (by 5 pts).

The only win in the league was against St. Brendans, who are an amalgamation of Cloughmills, Glenravel and Cushendun. Four of the second round of fixtures were not fulfilled.

The team played in the North Antrim ‘B’ Championship, and with wins over Tir na nOg, Rasharkin and an exciting final against St. Endas, they won this competition for the club’s first time.

In the whole of the 2008 league and championship, the team never had the same 15 players starting or finishing from game to game, and they travelled to games with the minimum of 15 players and at the most, the maximum panel of 18.

The U16 Player of the Year was Conor McCann, with Dannan O’Hara being awarded most improved player.
